Friday, December 31 1993: (New Years Eve)
The New Year’s Eve party was stressful. Anne was on pins and needles the entire time. Things remained pretty stable for a while until Anne received a phone call from ex Tony Morell. (They were still on good terms) Douglas became enraged, and he told Tony that he better not call back anymore. He spent the rest of the night getting sloppy drunk in a room upstairs. At about 10pm Anne told her daughter to please go and have fun and not to worry about her. Anne (Annie) was reluctant, but she left against her better judgment. Her mother had started putting together some packages for the needy until she finally retired to her bedroom about 10:30. It is not exactly clear what happened next, but it was about this time that Scott comes into Anne Douglas’ room and bludgeons her to death with a hammer. Three-year old Victoria was standing in the room at the time of the murder. Scott leaves the scene of the crime and gets in the car and drives around before calling his brother Todd Douglas and his sister. He told his brother that he had done something really bad. Scott then drives to the bridge and jumps. His brother Todd notifies the Bronxville police. Police arrive at the scene to find Anne upstairs with the right side of her face beaten severely.
